The Swishers: August in Colorado

We just got back from Colorado on Friday and we had a great time! Wednesday through Saturday we were in Estes Park with Nathan's family then we spent the rest of the time with my family in Greeley. Jane had a great trip. She slept well and loved being around her grandparents, aunts and her uncle. She also turned 7 months while we were gone!!

Wednesday afternoon we arrived at DIA after an uneventful (thankfully) flight. My mom and sister met us at the airport with a car to borrow for the week. It was packed with a baby backpack, a port-a-crib, and plenty of extra sheets and blankets. We ate lunch with Nana & Aunt Shaina and then headed to Estes. We arrived just in time for dinner. Not only did Jane get to see Granddad, Gramma and Aunt Emily, she also got to see her Great-Grandma Jo & Dick! It was so nice to be in the mountains. The house that Mark & Tammy rented had a beautiful view too.

Thursday Nathan & Emily hiked Longs Peak. They were treated to a hailstorm and altitude sickness. I think they still had fun. :) The rest of us had a yummy lunch on the lake and went shopping downtown.

Friday was my birthday and I really wanted to take the gondola up the mountain to feed the chipmunks. I didn't actually feed them, but it was fun watching Jane while her daddy fed them. That night Tammy & Mark made dinner and my family came up to join in the fun. Ryan, Lindsay and Brittany Perrich came too. Dinner was great and it was really nice to spend time with my friends & family. Thank you everyone for such a fun birthday!

Saturday the Swishers headed back to St. Louis and we headed down the mountain. In the afternoon Jane stayed with Nana & Papa while we went boating on Horsetooth with the Perrichs. It was so fun to be out on the lake! That night a big storm rolled in, but Nathan, Jane & I slept through it all. We had to hear about how it kept everyone else up the next morning. :)

Sunday we had a big family barbeque at my parent's house. My Uncle Dan & his family drove to Greeley from Salida and my Aunt Barb & her family came from Denver. It's been a while since we've all been together. It was fun for Jane to meet some more of her cousins & her great-aunt.

Monday through Wednesday we relaxed at my parent's house. Jane had a great time watching her daddy throw balls for the dogs in the backyard. She also loved zooming around in the walker her Nana & Papa got for her. It was nice having a backyard to play in too. We even got a baby pool for Jane to play in. Aunt Shaina & Uncle Matt were lots of fun and Jane really loved playing with them by the end of the week. She doesn't get to see them very often so it was special to have them there!

Thursday was the Rockies game! Nathan, Jane & I headed to Denver a little early to visit our friends, the Reinsels & their 6 boys! We didn't know what Jane would think of so many little boys, but she was smiling and laughing at them most of the time. After our visit we met my family at the Rockies game. It ended up being a lot of fun, even with a baby! Jane loved dancing to the music and we spent most of the time standing in the back of the seats watching the action. After the game we decided to take a trip down memory lane (who knows why) and have dinner at Casa Bonita. :) It was the first time I have watched a puppet show there, but it was pretty funny because Jane was mesmerized. We also took some fun western family pictures.

Friday, we headed home. Jane had a great flight, the best yet. She is a well-traveled 7 month old.
