Pirates, Picnics and Scavenger hunts

The weather in Colorado the last few weeks has been crazy, we've had snow, 70 degree days and lots of in between. We've been trying to get out as much as we can but the kids are having lots of fun dressing up and playing inside too.

Henry has really embraced Jane's love of costumes in the last month. He is always wanting to dress up and his favorite game to play is pirates. He is Captain Hook and whoever he ropes into playing has to be Mr. Smee.  :) 

 During Tuesday and Thursday morning preschool Henry and I usually try to do something fun just us. We've been going to the library story hour Tuesday mornings and this week we were able to go to the park one morning too!

Jane got to be the leader at preschool last week (aka I was the parent helper) so we made Dr. Seuss themed snacks in honor of his birthday.

While the kids were painting rocks I was catching up with all of our neighbors. We have a big block mailbox which happens to be right in front of our house so everyone decided to stop for a chat while they were getting their mail. It's so fun to live in the neighborhood I grew up in and have my kids meet people who knew me as a little girl.

Henry pulled the sled out of the garage and then he brought me his bike helmet and asked me to help him put it on.  :)

Nathan's new schedule means he has Fridays off and we love having him home for one more day a week! This week he made up a scavenger hunt for the kids to find some things on the Poudre trail.

After a quick stop at Target for a bug container necklace for Jane and a bug net for Henry we headed to the trail to find all of our treasures. It started out girls vs. boys but Henry thought he needed to follow Mommy and Jane got bored with me so we ended up joining forces at the end.

 We never got around to making sugar cookies for Christmas so we decided to make some Easter cookies. They were spring colors but Christmas shapes (since those are the only shapes I have!) :)

 

 Henry decorated his cookie and then ate it just as fast. 

The kids got an Easter package on Sunday from Grandad and Gramma. They loved everything in it! Jane was already wearing one of her new summer dresses today even though it was only 45 degrees. Two of their favorite things were the bunnies that used to belong to their daddy and Aunt Megan, made by Grandma Jane!
