5K for Matthew

The past Saturday our family participated in the Strides for Epilepsy 5K in Ft Collins. As most of you know, my brother Matthew was diagnosed with epilepsy as a teenager. One of his hopes was to find a cure and the Epilepsy Foundation is committed to that cause. Matthew supported the foundation, even donating his car a few years ago. 

The 5K started out with Nathan and I thinking we'd run in it together in honor of Matthew and we asked my parents to watch the kids. They thought they would like to join in and walk, pushing the kids in the stroller. It kind of grew from there - we ended up with 66 people signed up to walk or run with us and we were the top fundraising team! It was a great turn out and the foundation was excited to have us. Matthew would have been amazed to see how many people came and we were overwhelmed by the support. I can't wait to do it again next year!

 Since we were the top fundraising team and I was the team captain they wanted to recognize us. My dad spoke a little about Matthew and why we were all there. 

 Check out the serious runners at the start! One of our friends, Ryan, actually won the race with the fastest time!
